Mere minutes from YVR, strategically located between Richmond Centre and Highway 99, and home to hundreds of outstanding Asian restaurants and shops, West Cambie in Richmond is truly one of the finest neighbourhoods for families, first time buyers & married couples. Local West Cambie elementary schools with grades K to 7 include Talmey and MacNeil Schools. Nearby there’s Anderson Elementary for early French Immerision, and James Whiteside Elementary for late French Immersion. Minutes away is historic Henry James Cambie high school opening in 1928, the first secondary school in Richmond with grades 8 to 12. West Cambie Children’s Centre, Pui Ying Richmond Chinese School & Kwantlen Polytech on Lansdowne Road all add to the education options with West Cambie families. Closeby is the BCIT Aerospace Technology Campus near Burkeville.

Local favourites include the Golden Rice Bowl, Curry House or Datang BBQ Express. Many food stands are cash only, so make certain you have money on hand. Just next door is Aberdeen Centre with nine full service restaurants and an award-winning 800-seat foot court. Noodles, dim sum, dumplings, or Cantonese dishes like Shredded Pork Chow Mein abound. Richmond’s Chinese cuisine is defined by its regions, and the West Cambie neighbourhood is tops when it comes to dining choices.
Shopping
For those who like to shop, or browsing for the neighbourhood’s best bargains, the Aberdeen Centre is the city’s only ‘Shoppertainment’ destination with over 380,000 sq. ft. of stores, restaurants & entertainment offerings. Here the latest in fashion, beauty and lifestyle products are on display. Aberdeen Centre is where east meets west and where you’ll bump into your neighbours. Richmond’s Golden Village also includes Parker Place on No. 3 Road with about 150 shops and services. The Walmart Supercentre on Alderbridge Way is wildly popular with West Cambie residents, which includes a Garden Centre, Dental Clinic, Pharmacy and Walk-In Medical Clinic. Close-by to West Cambie lies Union Square where succulent barbecue pork, soy free range chicken, or Peking duck make for great take-out. In addition, Richmond Centre just down No. 3 Road is fashion central with approximately 250 shops and services. Transportation The Canada Line rapid transit system connected the West Cambie neighbourhood in the fall of 2009. This line carries locals to Richmond Centre, Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Vancouver’s Waterfront Centre in 25 minutes or less, with easy connections to the Expo and Millennium Lines. There’s handy connecting local bus service from Coast Mountain Bus with the 403, 410 & N10 lines. By vehicle the West Cambie neighbourhood is only 15 minutes to Vancouver and YVR International Airport, and offers easy access to Highway 99, the US Border Crossing and BC Ferry service in Tsawwassen.
